Feeding a Community
A common thread in the Bible is fellowship and ministry through meals and food. The women's ministry has expounded on this theme and created some of the biggest ministries to our community. The biggest of these is a funeral dinner ministry that facilitates a time for families to be together in celebration of life without the worry of food and cleaning. In addition to this ministry, they also provide thanksgiving baskets so families who couldn't afford a thanksgiving banquet can have one together. Similarly, they provide fruit baskets to shut-ins during the Christmas season. During the holiday season, they also provide a harvest dinner for the community, One of the most creative food-related ministries is the Bake it, Buy it, Share it even that allows deserts to be auctioned to help raise money for Great Lakes Youth & Family Camp while also hosting a fun night of food and fellowship together.
The Women's ministry runs a number of annual and monthly events. These Events include:
Fall Bizarre: The church is open to hosting a variety of local vendors and crafter. This event is not only a fundraiser for other ministries, but a chance for the community to come together, support each other, and enjoy a wonderful lunch made by the Women.
Share the Treats: This is a great opportunity for families to enjoy the experience of Trick or Treat in a safe environment that makes the whole experience both easier for parents, and more fun for kids.
Movie pot Luck: Once a month the women facilitate a pot luck lunch after church followed by a movie. This is a great time for our congregation to come together and enjoy a simple time of food and fun.
Mother Daughter Banquet: This is an awesome opportunity for generations to come together for an afternoon and enjoy fun and fellowship.
Men's Appreciation Breakfast: Similar to the Mother Daughter Banquet this is a great multi generation event that allows men of all ages to come together for a meal and conversation.
One of the many ways the women's ministry serves our community is by providing for those who have needs. During Christmas time they have an angel tree program that provides Christmas gifts to children who would otherwise go without. Throughout the rest of the year, they gather essential supplies that are distributed to those in need. The quilting club also makes blankets that are given to those in need such as families who have just suffered a house fire.
Small Groups
Annually, the Church hosts a mini women's retreat. This is a great time to grow in faith and create new relationships with women throughout the community with various backgrounds. Another fantastic group is the Wonder Women's Lunch. This is a group for Widows to come together and support each other through their unique struggles. This is a great opportunity to strengthen our community.
